What do our customers want? This is what we heard at the 2019 Fastener Fair in Detroit
Two weeks ago, our team visited the Motor City and exhibited at the 2019 Fastener Fair. Team ZONBIX would like to use this opportunity to thank all the visitors and their positive feedbacks on ZONBIX and the fastener industry in Taiwan.
Here is a summary of what our visitors said when looking for supply partners:

Integrity is the #1 thing.
Just as other relationships – a healthy, long-lasting business relationship can only be built upon mutual trust and loyalty. At ZONBIX, we believe every member of a supply chain should always protect each other’s interest. During the past 30 years, ZONBIX has been highly valued by our customer for this specific reason – we would like to specifically highlight this testimonial collected earlier this year:

Quality and services. NOT price.
Price has been the main reason to procure from Asia in the past decades. However, a shift of mindset is happening. “Let me share this with you and you’ll see why – I haven’t received the goods of an order I placed last year.” a visitor complained about his experience dealing with a supplier in a country where businesses proudly brag about their “low-cost goods”. Things like this are unheard of in Taiwan (even 30 years ago, in the early days of our fastener industry). Arguably, our emphases on quality and services may stem from the Japanese spirit we inherited from the colonial times (1895-1945).
ZONBIX has also been the pioneer in terms of obtaining relevant quality certifications. We were one of the earliest ISO 9001:2008 certified companies in Taiwan; and we recently passed the ISO 9001:2015 version. A recent review on our supply network showed ~40% of our manufacturing partners are IATF 16949 certified. It is also rare to see competitors investing heavily like ZONBIX, in QC infrastructure (e.g. adoption of latest QC international standards and gauges, Keyence imaging systems), continuously expanding storage space for a better inventory management, and designed its own internal ERP system for better operations.

Stable country-to-country political and trade relationship.
With the rising tension between the US and China, uncertainties from the political environment have become a key consideration. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) also highlight-ed the importance of this factor and how it may affect the businesses in its recent article “Winning the ’20s”.
Taiwan has been a good ally of the US since WWI & WWII. Also, the States has only constantly had a small amount of deficit with Taiwan. Most of the visitors are already familiar with Taiwan and its fastener industry for the above reasons. And now, it makes even more sense to include Taiwan as part of their procurement strategy now due to the volatile business environment – for de-risking and diversification on top of the benefits from high quality of goods and high standard of services.

These positive feedbacks really made us proud – of both ZONBIX and our country. It is also thrilling to see how our strategy and focus in the past 30 years align well with what the customers really want.
Nonetheless, we always believe there are no fancy words that can truly demonstrate actual experience and results. Like many of our visitors did after the Fastener Fair, we encourage you to test us out with something as simple as an RFQ.
